Biodiversity
Monaghan are committed to protecting the areas in which we operate. All sites have a biological plan to protect the biodiversity of its surrounding area.
This includes the creation of wildflower meadows, insect hotels, bird boxes, butterfly baths, bee keeping, new planting areas and green areas.
Biodiversity provides functioning ecosystems that supply oxygen, clean air and water, pollination of plants, pest control, wastewater treatment and many ecosystem services. It has been described as Ecological life support.
Biodiversity allows us to live healthy and happy lives; it provides us with food directly or through pollination, medical discoveries and ecosystem services. Biodiversity also provides aesthetic and cultural value to our lives, and has been shown to increase mental well-being.
